I realize this seems silly to most people: Don't all writers have editors? Well, as an independent author you have to pay the bills, all of them. Cover art, editors, publishing formatting, marketing. And those costs add up fast, especially when a novel hasn't even been published yet. The numbers get scary and I am not even talking about paying a narrator on audible five thousand dollars for a professional read. Most books run in preproduction cost around 1000 dollars just to set up before you hit PUBLISH. It's quite painful.
Writing isn't for sissies. And unlike the few authors at the top, writing isn't a lucrative profession. I do it for my creative expression, as a bellweather for my sanity and because each story I find has at its core Loyalty and Family.
Perhaps, someday I will have a story that reaches out and changes the world. Isn't that what we all try to do in some form, every day? So I keep typing. Only now, because of one friend named Cheer, I have a community of writers helping, teaching and inspiring me. Some of the most creative and funny people I have ever known I have met in the last three months at Band Of Dystopian Authors and Fans on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/bandofdystopian It's people like this, zany, imaginative, creative minds, that make any artist want to expand into difficult and new things. I resolve to be at least half as amazing as Casey Bond, Tami Carter, Megan White, Jon Messenger, John Hancock, Katie Corcino and many many more. I am beginning to get to know them and you should too.
I am so excited that I have an editor!
Flying Away is going to knock your socks off. Just sayin.
